Theater and cinema that enrich humanity and culture
The Authority was established by Prime Minister’s Resolution No. (885) of 2007 following the merger of the “General Motion Picture Company.” Alongside its role in anchoring national identity, the institution takes it upon itself to protect Libyan cultural and artistic heritage, while enriching the creative scene by organizing specialized events and activities in cinema, theater, and various arts.

The Authority strives to promote culture and the arts as pillars for community building, anchor the Libyan national identity, support young talents, and utilize art for social awareness. Despite financial challenges, the Authority continues its relentless efforts to organize festivals and cultural events that foster artistic exchange locally and internationally.
