Preparations Underway for the National Folk Arts Festival

To enhance joint cooperation between cultural institutions and local councils for the success of artistic and heritage events, Mr. Abdelbaset Abuganda, Deputy Minister of Culture for Theater and Arts Affairs (and Chairman of the General Authority for Cinema, Theater, and Arts), conducted a series of field visits and coordination meetings with several municipal mayors and cultural office officials across various regions.

Discussions during these meetings focused on establishing joint institutional frameworks to support and revitalize the theatrical and artistic movement, while overcoming all logistical and financial challenges facing local artistic ensembles. The parties also discussed ways to maintain and rehabilitate cultural centers, cinemas, and theaters to serve as suitable venues for hosting national festivals and film screenings that reflect the rich cultural and heritage identity of Libyan society.

During these meetings, Mr. Abuganda emphasized that the Ministry places great importance on the decentralization of cultural work, stressing that the success of any major artistic event relies fundamentally on the integration of roles between central state institutions and municipal councils. He explained that this cooperation is the ideal path toward establishing a sustainable creative environment that contributes to discovering, nurturing, and refining the skills of young talents.

At the conclusion of the tour, it was agreed to form joint supreme preparatory committees to begin planning and preparing for a series of cultural events and festivals scheduled under the plan for the second half of the year, ensuring they are presented in an honorable manner that befits the history of Libyan art and the expectations of the public.
